And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
This scripture came to mind this morning. Sometimes we need a bit of spurring on. In the Western horse world when you hear the word spur it often comes with a feeling of abuse or mistreatment to the horse. I like how the English world calls the spur and aid. Whichever term you like if used properly it's something that's meant to help not hinder your performance. Sometimes in the arena of life we need a little aid ( spur) to help us to yield to God's word when we really just want to get bracy and run off in our own direction.Sometimes we need an aid to get us to hustle and pass that finish line. Let's face it we all have days of hit barrels and no paychecks. You know those days that you're just not your best. Everything goes wrong, stuff flies out of your mouth, bad attitude and the list goes on. I was at a Barrel Race this summer and one of the best in the business fell off his horse on the second. It happens… But that one run or even a rotten season does not have to define you. But my challenge to you is, will you be the one to spur someone on?? I love to see my friends have good runs in and out of the arena of life. I have seen way too much judgment and criticism both in and out of the arena that is so devastating to people that they just quit. What a difference it can make in someone's life to spur them on. When I enter the arena on my little Fire Breathing Dragon I have a sense of confidence knowing that my mom is in the stands praying and cheering us on (LOUDLY). Her encouragement is invaluable and when I hear her I hustle a bit harder. Be that person! You will never know how your encouragement that day could be the very thing to spur someone on to try another day and not get discouraged and quit.
Friends I spur you on to run your race to be and do to all that God has called you to!
